The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2-1 in Connecticut on Wednesday to take a three games to one lead in the East Division Semifinals.
The Penguins can punch their ticket to the second round of the playoffs with a victory in Game 5, which is scheduled for 7:05 PM on Friday at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
Jeff Taffe lead the way for the Penguins on Wednesday night, assisting on Chris Minard’s first period goal, then scoring the eventual game-winner during a second period power play.
John Curry made 32 saves for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to earn the victory. Bridgeport’s Ben Walter spoiled the goaltender’s shutout bid by scoring a power play goal with 4:30 to play in regulation.
Bridgeport goaltender Peter Mannino made 19 saves in the losing effort.
